Booking the Game with Bruce Kronenberg

August 19, 2017 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm PST

Feel like video game auditions are a bit like shooting in the dark? All that backstory. All those plot-line entanglements. What’s a voiceover talent to do – but dig in! You’ve got to do so much more than just read copy and give it a weird twist. To make a video game character really interesting to a casting director’s ear, you’ll need to become something else.  Your booth has to become a whole new world, and you’re not “just a voice” anymore… To book the audition in gaming, you’ve got to push the boundaries. Hard. Grunts. Moans. Dying arts, fighting powers, sweetness and illusion. No pressure, right? It could be worse (you could actually be an Ork).  And if you can learn to let go, become real, rather than merely reading a character off a page? You’ll slay that video game audition.

Join one of NYC’s best Voiceover Coaches Bruce Kronenberg (Max Payne, Max Payne 2: Fall of Max Payne + Grand Theft Auto, and more) live in Irvine for a hands on 4-hour workshop on Booking the Gaming Audition.  Reserve your LIVE or ZOOM seat for this awesome class!

Description

To book the audition in gaming, you’ve got to push the boundaries. Hard. Grunts. Moans. Dying arts, fighting powers, sweetness and illusion. Everything that could be felt by the character is essentially part of who she/he/it is, and that range is your responsibility. No pressure, right? It could be worse (you could actually be an Ork). So let’s dig into the POV of what makes great video game voice acting so great: Nuances, character dimension, quirks & facets of emotion and how to bring it to life in front of your mic. What does a “legendary sword-wielding giant” really sound like? Or a “carnivorous plant-based life form?” How could you put a unique spin on a typical gaming character to make it something truly special? We’ll dive into all of it, and see what happens when your voice brings its gaming power! And if you can learn to let go, become real, rather than merely reading a character off a page? You’ll slay that video game audition.
