Morgan Berry Workout Wrap Up!

screen capture of event zoom

Anime Dubber and Casting Director Morgan Berry joined the VO Peeps for our very first anime dubbing workshop!

Morgan Berry joined the Vo peeps and brought her wealth of experience in dubbing, including years of experience at Crunchyroll! Morgan emphasized that anime is unlike other forms of character voiceover. It’s highly technical and requires precise skills, particularly when it comes to matching the animation’s timing and emotional beats. There’s no room for improvisation like in other forms of voice acting. In anime, everything must match the original animation exactly. When submitting auditions, following the instructions to the letter is crucial. If you’re sending multiple takes, ensure that each take showcases a completely different voice. It's not enough to just change the performance — you have to alter your entire vocal print. Morgan reminded us that producers are keen to see how versatile you are. Morgan's insights were invaluable for anyone looking to break into the world of anime voiceover. With a combination of technical know-how, creative versatility, and attention to detail, you can make your mark in this exciting field.

Peeps Are Saying

Morgan Berry gave the Peeps quite a workout last night! She provided real anime scripts and directed as if it was a real session. Morga brought out the best in each participant, and showed us the tips and tricks to succeed in the anime industry! What a stellar workshop! - Dianna C. Although I've dabbled with a scad bit of Anime in a few classes that touched on the genre, my recent experience in the October Monthly industry pro event with Morgan Berry offered through Anne Ganguzza's VO-Peeps ...had me absolutely loving and understanding this genre more than any other Anime class I've experienced. I'd have to say Morgan Berry's teaching style, knowledge and guidance with every script read brought out the best in every voiceactor taking part in the class...Her quirky kindness was so refreshing, especially to those of us that may have felt a little out of there element (me)....and unsure if this was a vo path i might like to continue perfecting... Thanks Anne for the variety of monthly resources you offer the vo community to help further our education as voiceactors - Renee NP
